ARMS allows you to import or manually update your student-athletes progress towards degree information in two ways, Course Mode and Summary Mode. The determination of which mode will be utilized is set at the term level inside the Administration - Compliance page, inside each individual academic year and term.

Course Mode

When a term is set in "Course Mode" the system will automatically sum up the values for the attempted, earned, remedial and degree credit hours for that student-athlete. This will create a read only via of the summary values so that a user can see how many hours were earned for the student-athlete and are being applied for the PTD calculations.

Summary Mode

When a term is set in "Summary Mode" the total values for the attempted, earned, remedial and degree credit hours will be editable at the term level so a user can import or manually add the values. The summary values that are added will then be used for the PTD calculations.

Summary Mode

Can I use a hybrid approach for my institution?

Absolutely! If you want to have some terms sum your degree hours for PTD calculations from the course results, and some terms only have the summary values for degree hours, the progress towards degree calculation will still work appropriately. This is a common utilization of the system for schools that are onboarding and want to import summaries for previous terms but then transition to a course-based model moving forward.

Can I import courses and still be in Summary Mode?

Yes! If your institution wants to import courses each term for calendaring purposes, but wants to use a Summary import for PTD calculations, the term can remain in Summary Mode while still displaying all of the courses that were imported for the term (and displaying these courses on the Student-Athlete and team's calendar).
